I am…World Tour, the best selling DVD of 2010 in U.S.

In just five weeks of release, Beyoncé’s I Am…World Tour has become the best-selling music video of 2010 in United States. The title has sold 132,000 copies. It tops Rush’s Beyond The Lighted Stage, which has sold 118,000 copies in 26 weeks and Michael Jackson’s Live In Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour, which has sold 116,000 copies during the entire year.

There’s still one chart week to go in 2010, but Beyoncé’s lead appears insurmountable. This is the fourth year in a row that Beyoncé has had one of the year’s top 10 music videos, but first time that she has come out on top. Knowles is the single black female artist to have two of the top 20 music videos for 2010. It has sold circa 400,000 copies worldwide, being Beyoncé’s 3rd best-selling DVD to date. In terms of weeks at the top spot in Billboard, it ties for the tile of Knowles’ longest #1 with I am…Yours, both spending 8 weeksThe 2009 DVD is also placed at 15, with 63K sold this year. This video has sold 162K copies since its release in November 2009. This was the #6 video of 2009, with sales in that year of 99K.

I am…World Tour success

Janet Jackson and Beyoncé Knowles – Comparation (2nd round)

Janet Jackson vs Beyonce Knowles

We announced some time ago that we will start posting a series of comparisons between Janet Jackson and Beyoncé Knowles that includes eight rounds. Let’s remember them :

1st round – Studio albums : Certifications (I made this comparison based on the certifications because the conditions in which they are granted are changed periodically, according to the decline in sales. It’s harder for artists to sell these days because of the amount of people who download.)

2nd round – Studio albums : Chart peaks (The positions on the charts show the influence and impact that those albums had worldwide, compared with the other materials on the market at their release moments.)

3rd round – Hits : Chart peaks (I didn’t make a “Certification” category like I did for the albums because until 00s the majority of singles didn’t sell good, and the certifications for them weren’t were not given properly.)

4th round – Music videos (On arguments and criteria)

5th round – Performing (On arguments and criteria)

6th round – Acting

7th round – Ability to offer variety (in everything)

8th round – RESULT (A complex conclusion)

The first round has already taken place, and now we continue with the second!

Janet Jackson and Beyoncé Knowles – Comparation (1st round)

There is an endless war between Janet Jackson’s fans and Beyoncé’s ones dating back years. This prompted me to gather more information to make a fair comparison between the two. If you look at the title that summarizes the action of this site you will understand that I am a person who admires Beyoncé, both as artist and as a human being. Before starting the series of comparisons I would like to stress that I respect Janet Jackson so much, and I’d like a polite and logical debate based on arguments from both sides. Thank you !
